HKCSS Most Impactful Small and Medium-sized Non-subvented NGOs Award 2019

The Hong Kong Council of Social Service consists of 490 member agencies, of which over two-thirds are initiated and self-funded by the local community. Despite that they are relatively small, these NGOs are actively helping people to help themselves by wisely utilizing all resources available to them, gathered through their untiring effort.

These self-financed NGOs not only narrow service gaps in government-funded services, they respond to community needs, particularly those of minority and vulnerable groups, flexibly and creatively. Besides direct services, they are also advocates and promoters for raising public awareness of the situations of the disadvantaged.

Social service organizations are outposts of our neighbourhoods, discovering and relieving hardships and sufferings in hidden corners. Small organizations, Great achievements.
