CareER is the first student union, alumni union and a charitable job-matching platform for the higher educated students and graduates with disabilities and special needs in Hong Kong. We focus on people’s ability not their disabilities. This platform for talents has matched over 150 higher educated people with disabilities and SENs into more than 100 employers since CareER founded in 2014 as a charity.

Each year, we have created more than 70 job placements around half of the placements are long-term employment and another half are different internships for students and new disabled/SEN people. According to our 238 job placements, most of the placements are successful placements which only less than 10 placements are unsuccessful which did not work out within the probation period.

  6. 請簡述機構洞悉的強處、弱處、機遇及危機的分析及管治團隊的對應措施。

    Strengths:

CareER’s uniqueness is that we are a students and alumni platform with strong peer support. Since 2016, we have invited students and graduates with disabilities and SENs to step up as CareER student committee to develop programmes and activities for our peers. This year, CareER has 14 student committees from different universities and different physical and mental conditions. CareER founded with HR expertise. We have a strong team with HR professionals to support corporates to develop their long-term disabilities inclusion strategies through workshops, lunch and learn, office accessibility assessment and work experience activities.

    Weaknesses:

CareER staff is relatively young. We are working hard to build up our knowledge through coaching, internal mentoring, executive coaching and international exposures. We are lack of resources to engage with wide range of volunteers from the community. We could only focus on knowledgeable volunteers from professional coaches, counsellors and social work experts. It is because CareER does not have in house social workers, counsellors and our corporate trainers.

  7. 請簡述機構未來發展計劃:1) 方向或範疇; 2) 發展策略及介入手法; 3) 拓展網絡 及4) 管治層(董事會)及管理層(高級職員團隊) 的團隊建立及整固。(不多於200字)

    Future Direction of Development:

CareER target to be a NGO to walk with employers to develop their disabilities inclusion strategies through research, knowledge based methodology and business case reviews.

CareER is developing our flexible training platform for target group. Since we support all kinds of disabilities and SENs, our own capacity building is very important. CareER has set out staff training budget to acquire training from other NGOs, executive coaching, counselling for our staff.

CareER is trying to strengthen our HR experts through internal staff training and external experts from professional recruitment agencies and we are developing public education in content marketing approach to have thematic social media campaign.

    Governance:

CareER’s Executive Committee (Exco) contains 9 members from corporates, recruitment, social enterprise, government and NGO sectors. The Exco has meeting regularly in quarterly basis. During the meeting, the agenda contains Financial updates, daily updates and discussion items.
